Troy Intermediate PTA – Committee Descriptions
6th Grade Recognition This committee is responsible for organizing and coordinating the 6th Grade end of the year event. It has been bowling at Spevock’s Nautical Lanes in Avon Lake for many years. Would include coordinating with venue, ensuring 6th grade teachers are informed, and securing volunteers. Book Fair Coordinate the 2 Scholastic book fairs that come to Troy. Set Up with Scholastic & Troy’s Administrators, coordinate volunteers for the book fair, complete receipts of monies collected and ensure payment to scholastic; clean up book fair. Book fairs usually are held from 10:30-1:30 (during lunch/recess time) for 2 days (once in the Fall and once in the Spring) Conference Dinners Coordinate with the Principal to provide lunch/dinner/snacks for the staff during the Fall and Spring Conferences. Would include getting volunteers to help with donation of additional items and picking up dinner related items for the staff. Field Day Help coordinate volunteers to oversee the games on Field Day (usually the 2nd to last day of school). Usually PTA provides popiscles for the students, so would be responsible for securing such items. Fundraising This committee will help with any and all fundraising events planned for the year. Including Box Tops for Education, sale-less fundraisers or any other opportunities determined by the committee. Gifts to School This committee helps to coordinate any Gifts to Troy that the PTA will purchase. Health & Safety This committee works with Troy’s Administrators to provide Health & Safety. Holiday Cookie Walk For Staff In December, the committee would coordinate a Holiday Cookie Walk for the Staff of Troy. Responsibilities would include coordinating parents to donate baked goods, organizing the delivery of donated baked goods, and organizing a mixer for staff. Ice Cream Social The committee is responsible for organizing an ice cream social on Schedule Pick Up Day. Secure ice cream products, set up/clean up, and organize any volunteers. |
Legislative Committee This committee is responsible for any legislative matters. Noontime Enrichment This committee is responsible for organizing and planning the noontime enrichment program. Program runs for 6 weeks, usually 2 days a week, during recess time. Committee will determine game/craft/activity to be done each day the program runs. Activities include scarf/hat making (alternate each year); bingo, minute to win it games, any craft etc. Committee will secure any materials needed for the activities. Reflections This committee is responsible for getting students to submit artwork to the Reflections Art Fair. Responsibilities include holding creative sessions during recess or after school, informing teachers, staff and students, organizing submitted artwork and helping setup/clean up at the Art Show. Also includes working with the Avon Lake PTA Council Reflections Chair on organizing the Reflections Show, which is held usually in March. Scholarship This committee works to award the Troy PTA Scholarships in conjunction with the Avon Lake PTA Council Scholarship Chair. School Supplies This committee works with a company to offer parents the option to purchase supply kits for their incoming 5th and 6th graders. Would need to work with Troy Secretary to ensure that teachers update their required supplies in January, collect orders by end of school, and work with delivery of school supplies to purchasers on Schedule Pick Up Day. Senior Citizen Prom This committee will plan a Senior Citizen Prom for our 6th Graders and their grandparents. Usually held the 1st Friday of May at Troy. Set the theme, advertise, and secure any necessary food/decorations/dj and volunteers. Staff Appreciation This committee will plan activities for the Troy Staff during Staff Appreciation Week, usually the first week of May. Past activities included food truck, gift certificates, breakfast etc. Troy Lunchtime Book Club This committee would organize a book club for students during their recess. Volunteer Coordinator This individual would be responsible for collecting volunteer hours and submitting them to the Ohio PTA as required. |
